10 Reasons to Buy Now

Yes, I’m a Realtor® and I’m bias. However, I am a human being with a heart and would never steer anyone in the wrong direction or give awful advice. The title of this post is maybe a little misleading, but I will explain. Recent articles and under-educated speculators will vomit despair all day long saying that the market is terrible. You have to remind yourself that the fundamental strength of home ownership hasn’t changed.

Here are the 10 reasons:

  1. You can get a good deal.  Prices are down about 30% on average and negotiating is the name of the game.  These prices are at a level that is comfortable for most people’s income.
  2. Mortgages are cheap. 4.3% on average for a 30 year fixed mortgage is unbelievable right now.  The cost to own a home is down 1/5 from 2 years ago.
  3. Tax savings. When you add up the tax deductions from the mortgage interest and other items, the cost to own can drop below renting for a similar place.
  4. You OWN it. You can do what you want to you home and not worry about asking for permission (unless they’re outrageous and against the community restrictions)
  5. You can get a better home. In some markets the nice homes are for sale only.
  6. Inflation protection. Historically, appreciation will outpace inflation.
  7. Risk Capital. When the economy picks up you benefit.  Also, you’ll have a nice place to live.
  8. You are forced to save. Part of your mortgage payment goes to equity eventually.  I know you interest only loan people will benefit eventually.
  9. Inventory is high. Across the U.S. there are roughly 4 million homes on the market today.  Now is the time to find something that fits your needs.
  10. The market will eventually clear. The nation is expected to grow by another 100 million in 40 years. They have to live somewhere.

So as I was saying, the title is kind of misleading, you see what I’m talking about right?  These are 10 reasons you should buy.  I’m not saying go out there and buy a home immediately, but if you’re in the market to purchase a home these reasons can back up an uncertainty you may have.
